Ottawa ceramic artist, Cynthia O’BRIEN has honed her skills while constantly examining life’s emotions. With a BFA from Nova Scotia Collage of Art and design she is a hand builder with great respect for her material, Further explorations with Artist in Residencies such as Medalta Canada, Vallauris France, Tanks Australia and MASS MOCA USA. O’Brien emphasizes her relationship with minimum glazes and the importance of the human touch in finished work. Cynthia’s intimate pieces express emotional subjects through the beauty, strength and fragility of nature, in her clay sculptures and installations.  O’Brien is recognized by her peers through Awards from Ontario Art Council, Craft Ontario and Canada aCouncil for the Arts.  Her work Cana be found in the collections of the Canada Council Art Bank, Art Gallery of Burlington and Taiwan Yinngi Museum.
