Béatrice grew up in Switzerland. She  studied art and design in Bern, Switzerland with

Major in  ceramics.  In 2000 she immigrated to Canada. Life asked her to become many different things, which is reflected in her work.

In her textile work, she uses cloth more like she would use paint.

The delicate and fragile process of layering small pieces together is important to the meaning of the work. It is often about the thin line between deep connections and falling apart.

She is fascinated with connecting and transforming materials.

Her work started to change in the lockdown due to very limited supplies. She found a way to create smaller scaled surfaces with materials that was available to her.

Small stripes of newspaper or magazine paper are sandwiched between textiles and organza. Each stripe is quilted and in the end stretched over canvas.

Interplay between thread, paper, and the patterns created with fonts that give the artwork a painterly quality.

She embraced that even more in her newest work. The small imaginary landscapes became windows of escape.

In  her mixed media collages she creates imaginary landscapes by using layers of acrylic paint, photographs, and various papers.

The paint adds depth, movement and texture, while the paper becomes her brush, shaping and defining the landscape. Through layering, she explores the relationships between materials and memories, blurring the boundaries between the physical and emotional, creating multi-layered spaces.
